This blog is my way of sharing Greece with you — not just the places, but the people, the traditions, and the little stories that make this country so special.
You’ll hear from me, but also from friends, locals, and travelers who each see Greece in their own unique way. Together, we’ll talk about food, culture, history, and everyday life.
I hope you’ll enjoy these stories as much as I enjoy collecting and sharing them.
Traveling in Greece isn’t only about finding the prettiest beach or the best deal. For us Greeks, choosing a destination is often personal. It can be tied to family, old friendships, or even a place we love so much we return every year.
That’s why I started two main blog series — to show how we travel in Greece, both as locals and as travelers ourselves.
If I Came to Visit You…
This series is about local tips. I ask friends all over Greece: “If I came to visit you, where would you take me?” The answers are full of hidden treasures: a family-run taverna, a monastery off the beaten path, or a walk only locals know. Think of Georgia in Corfu, Petros in Kefalonia, or Maria in Karpathos — people who share the places they love most.
Where Did You Go This… (Summer/Fall/Winter)
This one looks at how Greeks choose where to go each season. It’s about real travel choices, not brochures:
- Yiannis went back to Paxos to see his friends.
- Antonia followed a friend’s advice for a quiet, affordable break.
- Thomai went to visit her niece.
- Flora chose a hidden gem most tourists miss.
- Georgia usually goes somewhere new, but this year wildfires changed her plans.
- My brother picked Pelion, a classic family-friendly destination.
Other Stories You’ll Find Here
Beyond these two series, I’ll also be sharing other kinds of stories that I hope you’ll find inspiring and fun to read. Some will be about Greek traditions and festivals, others about local food, wine, and family-run businesses that keep culture alive. You might also find reflections from my own travels, behind-the-scenes moments from running Greece Unplugged, or even tips for traveling in Greece out of season.
Sometimes these posts will be practical, sometimes more personal — but always with the same goal: to help you see a more real and authentic side of Greece.
